“Sorceress, please open a Gate!” - I like that it starts of with this immediacy, but the exclamation mark is weird as it suggests she shouts it, rather than whispers this. 

'not caring for the woman's feathered cloak as the afternoon sun peaked through the trees.' - I like this detail as it shows the reader the difference between them. However 'as the afternoon sun peaked through the trees.' fit in a bit strangely here. 

I really like the fast pacing of this first bit, it drew me straight into the story and made me curious to know where they were running from and why.

Your dialogue is very strong, and it really showed through Cathene's voice was as it was jarring and modern-day compared to the characters in the previous scene.

This is a really strong start!
